The young and fearless Canadian-Dutch-Korean singer Ennik Somi Douma was welcomed into the world on March 9, 2001. She was born to a Korean mother, Jeon Sun-hee, and a Dutch-Canadian father, Matthew Douma. Jeon Somi was born in Ontario, Canada, but relocated with her parents to South Korea when she was one year old. Somi reached her first career milestone in 2014 when she started working for the entertainment and record label agency JYP Entertainment. During this time, Somi graduated from middle school and played a cameo role in the South Korean drama film “Ode to My Father,” alongside her younger sister Evelyn Douma.
Two years after Somi got signed, she took the world by storm when she won “Produce 101,” a reality television talent competition, in 2016. In the same year, Somi joined the South Korean girl group, formerly known as I.O.I, and took on her career as a solo singer when the band disbanded in 2017.
