Jalen Romande Green was born on February 2, 2002, in Merced, California. His parents are Bree Purganan and Marcus Green, who is his stepfather. Jalen’s mother is a nurse and his step-father also played basketball. While in high school at Washington Union High School, Marcus played alongside N.B.A. player DeShawn Stevenson. In the third grade, Green and his family moved to Fresno and in the sixth grade, he played Amateur Athletic Union basketball.

After high school at San Joaquin Memorial High School, Green became a full-time basketball player. 18.1 points and 9 rebounds in starting was what he averaged at the time. He also led his team into reaching a CIF Central Section Division. The team held a 2nd runner-up position. Being named CIF Central Section’s rookie of the year earned Green with the Max Prep Freshman all-American second-team afterward. Green went ahead to score an average of 27.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in his sophomore season and again led his team to CIF Division 2nd title and the CIF open division playoffs. Green, showcasing his talent, awarded him the title of MaxPreps national sophomore of the year.

Transferring to Prolific Prep in Napa, California for his senior season, Green shone like a star again, leading his team to win the Grind Session World championship. He shared most valuable player honors with Daishen Nix in the same championship in March 2020. From Sports illustrated All-American player of the year to taking part in the G League’s professional pathway for a one-year development, Green’s light continues to shine. His prowess has also seen him take home a selection to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game, the Nike Hoop Summit, and the Jordan Brand Classic. Green now represents the United States in the N.B.A. G League but has mentioned being more interested in the Philippines as he is of Filipino background.
