Marcus Dobre

Background

Marcus Dobre-Mofid (along with his twin Lucas) was born to gymnast Aurelia Dobre and her husband, Boz Mofid, who is an Iranian gymnastics coach. He grew up with his family in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Presumably under the influence of their mother, Marcus, and his twin, Lucas, began to dance and showed great promise for the art at a young age. They then called themselves the Dobre Twins, a dancing duo, who initially rose to popularity on Vine. He first achieved fame in 2015 with a six-second-long video that he posted on Vine, earning him approximately 1.8 million followers. When Vine closed down, Dobre started posting his videos to YouTube, and it was not long before he began to make waves. His channel now has over 1.5 billion views.

All of these were to be expected as he is a talented and expressive dancer, specializing in breakdancing and gymnastics stunts. However, he does not just post about dance on his social media sites. He has diversified by pioneering new content that suits the needs of his voracious audience, displaying a rare versatility for someone so young. This content includes videos about gymnastics, pranks, and challenges — all of which help his fans remain involved in his life. In March 2018, he and his twin were signed to the Creative Artists Agency, an American talent, and sports agency.

Despite his unexpected rise to fame, Dobre has remained very down to earth, managing to balance his popularity with enjoying his youth. He is not afraid to chase fun and is very comfortable in front of the camera. He is very close to his family, prioritizing and living close to them. Now, the pair have over 24 million subscribers on YouTube.
