With his siblings Gavin, Tatyana, and Madison, he grew up in the Dorchester district of Boston. He went to Rivers School in Weston, Massachusetts, and was a basketball player for the school. Clarke was a talented player from the start, and while at Rivers, he was a member of the All-New England Preparatory School Athletic Council Class B squad. He switched to Brewster Academy after his freshman season, where he helped his team win the 2019 National Prep Championships. Clarke was then selected for the McDonald’s All-American Game, an annual all-star basketball game for Canadian and American high school basketball grads. He was also named to Sports Illustrated’s third-team All-American team, which includes the best high school seniors in the country. 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals all rated him as a five-star recruit as a result of his outstanding performance. He received invitations from several major universities but ultimately chose to join the University of Kentucky to play shooting guard for the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team.
Clarke made his college debut on November 25, 2020, when his squad faced the Morehead State Eagles men’s basketball team. Clarke put on a strong performance, scoring 12 points, four assists, four rebounds, and three steals while leading his side to an 81–45 victory. Due to an injury to his right leg, he only played in eight games this season, including one in the SEC Tournament. His squad faced the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on December 6, 2020, and he scored a career-high 22 points. He announced on March 19, 2021, that he would enter the upcoming NBA draft and forgo his remaining NCAA eligibility. Clarke has established himself as one of the greatest shooting guards in the class of 2020 by the end of his college career.
Clarke joined Klutch Sports Group, a sports agency that represents prominent NBA players, on April 21, 2021, while awaiting the 2021 NBA draft. Clarke died on April 22, 2021, in Los Angeles, California, after being involved in a traffic collision after practice with teammate Brandon Boston Jr. To the surprise of his teammates and admirers, he was rushed to Northridge Hospital and confirmed dead.
