Background

Darryl Kevin Richardson, known by his stage name, Lil Scrappy, is a rapper, producer, and reality T.V. star. He was born on January 19, 1982, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was raised by a single mother because his father, Darryl Richardson Senior, left before he was born.

Along with Trillville, Lil Scrappy was one of the first artists signed to American record producer and rapper Lil Jon’s BME Recordings. He has since built a strong reputation and has made a name for himself in the Atlanta hip-hop scene.

Lil Scrappy’s music career started in 2006 with the release of his debut album “Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live.” The album’s first single, ‘Money in the Bank,’ charted at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it his most commercially successful single to date. The album itself peaked at number 24 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Scrappy’s second album, “Prince of the South,” was released in 2008. Then in 2010, “Prince of the South 2,” with the songs ‘Addicted To Money’ and ‘Bad,’ was released but was not much of a success.

“Tha GruStle” was released in 2012, its most successful single being ‘No Love,’ which recorded over 100k views on YouTube in its first week. He has also worked with other artists on two collaborative albums, “Silence & Secrecy: Black Rag Gang” and “The King of Crunk & BME Recordings Present: Trillville & Lil Scrappy.” He has since appeared on several reality shows, including “Love & Hip Hop: Miami,” and “Leave It To Stevie.” He currently stars on the reality show “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.”

Lil Scrappy was involved in a relationship with Erica Dixon, and they have a daughter, Emani. The rapper also dated Adi Benson and Shay Johnson. He is married to Adiza Benson, also known as Bambi, a television personality.
