Joseph Mulrey McIntyre, popularly known as Joey McIntyre, was born on December 31, 1972. He was born near Boston, Massachusetts, and is one of nine siblings! Growing up in such a large family, McIntyre was always confident and easily interacted with those around him. His mother was a local theater actress, and this exposed McIntyre to the world of entertainment from a very young age. He was enthralled with the idea of being up on stage. He joined his community’s theater production of “Oliver!” It was love at first sight for the young McIntyre, and from this point, he knew that a life in the world of entertainment was what he wanted. He attracted the attention of Maurice Starr, who was looking for talented singers to join his new group called New Kids on the Block. In 1984, when McIntyre was just 12 years old, he became the newest and youngest member of this group.

The early days of the band did not go as planned, and the group produced no hits. Their label, Columbia Records, however, saw the talent that was brewing and gave the young band a chance to refine their talents and create more music. This time certainly did them wonders, and by 1988, they were nationally known. Unfortunately, the following years would see the band affected by outside influences, and soon McIntyre felt as if he should branch out. In 1995, he returned to acting and landed a lead role in the movie “The Fantasticks.” While he enjoyed making the film, he soon returned to music, this time going in a more pop direction. He had to release the songs that he produced all on his own and released the music onto his website. It was a resounding success and in 1999, he signed with C2 Records and released the album “Stay The Same.”

In 2000, McIntyre turned back to acting and began a role on the popular show “Boston Public,” playing a teacher. In 2003, he married Barrett Williams, with whom he is still married today. The couple has three beautiful children together. McIntyre has had many successes over his career and has become a globally recognized name in the entertainment industry.
