Background

Tyrese Darnell Gibson was born in Los Angeles, California, on December 30, 1978. His ethnicity is African-American, and he is a Capricorn. Gibson is the son of Priscilla Murray and Tyrone Gibson. Tyrone Gibson Sr. is his older brother, and he also has two older sisters named Salendra and Shonta. The four siblings were raised by their mother after their father left. During Gibson’s high school years, a music teacher suggested he audition for a Coca-Cola commercial, which led to his first appearance on T.V. in 1994; this led him to get modeling jobs with Guess and Tommy Hilfiger.

1998 was a big year for Gibson. He signed a deal with RCA Records and released his first single, ‘Nobody Else,’ which peaked at number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100.
