In Raleigh, North Carolina, Carson Wentz was born on December 30, 1992. His parents are Cathy Domres and Doug Wentz. Duke Domres and Zach Wentz are his two brothers.

Wentz began his college career in 2011 by redshirting his first year with the football team of North Dakota State Bison. That year, the group captured its first F.C.S. crown. The year after, he played as a redshirt freshman backup quarterback. In a victory over the Prairie View A.&M. Panthers, he threw his first touchdown pass. With his greatest performance coming against Delaware State, he finished his redshirt sophomore season in 2013 as a backup quarterback. In 2014, he started playing quarterback for the Bison. In that year’s national championship game versus Illinois State, made his debut. With just 37 seconds left in the game, he scored a touchdown to seal his team’s victory. The North Dakota State Bison game versus Northern Iowa in October 2015 featured one of Wentz’s best performances of his college career. He was taken off the pitch after suffering a wrist injury. His team won their sixth F.C.S. championship under his leadership in January 2016. Awarded for his performance, he received the title of N.C.A.A. Division I-AA Championship Game Most Outstanding Player. Once for Division I Football and then once more for all Division I sports after his college career, he was named the Academic All-American of the Year by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The Philadelphia Eagles selected Wentz as the second overall choice in the first round of the 2016 N.F.L. Draft. With a $17.6 million bonus to play for the team, he agreed to a $26.67 million contract. In September 2016, he was formally named as a starter and made his first regular start against the Cleveland Browns. He was named the Pepsi N.F.L. Rookie of the Week for his first week of playing professionally. For his performance against the Steelers, he was later named the N.F.C. Offensive Player of the Week. For the seventh week of the 2017 campaign, he was once more named the N.F.C. Offensive Player of the Week and was a candidate for N.F.L. Most Valuable Player. Wentz’s contract was extended by the Philadelphia Eagles on June 6, 2019, for a further four years, through 2024. A guaranteed $107 million of the $128 million contract was inked.
