Bridgit Mendler

Background

Bridgit Claire Mendler was born in Washington, D.C., on December 18, 1992, to Sandra Ford-Mendler and Charles Mendler. She has a younger brother named Nicholas. Mendler relocated to Mill Valley, California, with her family when she was eight. It was here that she developed an interest in acting and began performing in plays. Mendler made her acting debut in the Indian film “The Legend of Buddha” in 2004. Three years later, she was featured in “Alice Upside Down,” a film adaptation of the Alice series. Mendler appeared in the Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” as a recurring character in 2009. She rose to fame in 2010 as the main lead of the Disney Channel Original Series “Good Luck Charlie.”

In 2011, Mendler played Olivia White in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Lemonade Mouth,” which premiered with 5.7 million viewers on its release. She contributed to the film’s music, which was released by Walt Disney Records on April 12, 2011. The movie’s first song, ‘Somebody,’ was released on March 4 and reached number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. She also starred in a Disney Channel Original Movie in 2011, “It’s Christmas, Charlie, So Good Luck!” Mendler revealed the title of her official debut song, ‘Ready or Not,’ composed by her, Emanuel “Eman” Kiriakou, and Evan “Kidd” Bogart, in the summer of 2012. The song peaked at number 49 in the U.S.

Soon after, Mendler began writing new music and announced the title of her next song, ‘Atlantis,’ featuring Kaiydo, on August 4, 2016. A year later, she and the American group RKCB released a single named ‘Diving’ on August 25. She also starred alongside David Spade, Joey Bragg, Matt Shively, and Jackie Sandler in the Netflix comedy film “Father of the Year.” Mendler started a relationship with Shane Harper in 2011 but split in 2015. She then announced on Instagram in October 2019 that she had married her long-time boyfriend Griffin Cleverly.
