Alex Gaskarth

Background

Alexander William Gaskarth was born on December 14, 1987. His parents are Isobel Gaskarth and Peter Gaskarth. They gave birth to him in Essex, England. His family relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, United States, when Gaskarth was six or seven years. In middle school, he was taken out of his private school and placed in a public school, where he met Jack Barakat, who became his best friend. When they first started high school, they met Rian Dawson and Zack Merrick. On April 9, 2016, Gaskarth married his longtime girlfriend, Lisa Ruocco, a Union3 Event Productions event producer, in Baltimore. He had been dating her since high school; they had been together for 12 years before marriage.

When Gaskarth was a teenager, he began singing pop-punk songs. In 2002, he joined a band named ‘Crew Fighters,’ where he sang cover songs. He quit the crew in 2003, and his friend Jack Barakat convinced him to join the band that would later become known as ‘All Time Low.’ The band began performing ‘Green Day’ and ‘Blink-182’ cover tunes. Zack Merrick and Rian Dawson later joined ‘All Time Low,’ rounding out the lineup. Gaskarth and his buddies got their first Record deal with Emerald Moon Records in 2004 and released their debut extended play album, “Three Words to Remember in Dealing with the End,” in 2005. In 2006, the band launched “The Party Scene,” their first studio album. The band’s prosperity continued. They joined Hopeless Records in 2006, and their platinum hit, “Dear Maria, Count Me In,” was released in 2007; the same year, they released “So Wrong, It’s Right,” their second studio album. In the years that followed, they released successful albums and top-charting singles.

Gaskarth played a variety of Gibson SG-X guitars from 2004 to 2008. Gaskarth began using some custom-made Paul Reed Smith guitars in mid-2013, the most noteworthy of which being the Mira. He said in a Reddit AMA that he gave up the instruments because it was difficult to replace parts while he was abroad. Gaskarth presently plays Fender guitars, particularly the Mustang 90 variants; however, he’s been also sighted playing Telecasters and acoustic models. Gaskarth has also played electric guitars made by Gibson.
