PJ Liguori

Background

P.J. Liguori was born on December 11, 1990, in England. There’s not a lot of information about his family or personal life. We know he was born to an Italian family and took to the creative arts as a child. He graduated from the University for the Creative Arts in Surrey. But Liguori began dabbling in video-making long before a formal education in the arts. He tinkered with old equipment and took the pain of in-video editing. Liguori became particularly keen on animations.

After browsing numerous YouTube channels by other people, he decided to start one of his own. At first, it was just to share all the cool stuff he was making with friends. Soon, other people began viewing his channel, and his number of followers grew. Granted, that number by today’s standards was small, but it was a big deal back then. In 2007, his YouTube Channel KickThePJ took off and became the most talked-about online. There’s been no looking back since.

Since 2007, the channel has been putting out outstanding short films. Some of his early videos, such as “P.J’s Sandwich,” “Make Art,” and “Chaos Theory” are still wildly popular with fans. You’d be hard-pressed to find better content or animations anywhere else. In 2014, Liguori partnered with The Jim Henson Company and New Form Digital to release “Oscar’s Hotel,” — a beautiful 10-minute film on how a boy named Oliver saves the day. The film was so universally loved that Vimeo funded a six-episode web series in 2015. Before the world could blink, Liguori released another film the following year called “Hair and Brimstone” — a decidedly darker story about three friends in a hair salon. No ordinary salon, but one that transforms into something terrifying when the sun goes down. Liguori’s rise to fame has been virtually meteoric. Liguori’s natural flair for filmography always indicated a career in film. His path, like him, was anything but ordinary.
