Background

Kwadwo Asamoah was born in Accra, Ghana on December 9, 1988. He is happily married to his wife, Abena, since 2012, who gave birth to two lovely kids — a boy, Jason, and a girl, Jada. In the winter of 2007 — 2008, he signed with Swiss club Bellinzona and spent time on loan at the Italian team Torino. Asamoah was signed by Serie A club Udinese in June 2008, where he quickly made a name for himself and became a key player for both the team and the nation. After good performances at the 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations, he became a target of top European clubs. He made his debut for the Ghana national team, Black Stars, in 2006, under French manager Claude Le Roy. In the 2008 and 2010 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, he won a bronze and a silver medal, respectively, and later in the 2012 and 2013 tournaments, he played for Ghana. He also appeared for Ghana at the 2010 and 2014 F.I.F.A. World Cup.

Asamoah and Udinese teammate, Mauricio Isla, joined Juventus in July 2012 on co-ownership agreements, with Juventus paying nine million euros for 50 percent of Asamoah’s contract. In the 2012 Supercoppa Italiana, he made his debut on August 11 against Napoli, scoring a goal that helped Juventus defeat Napoli in overtime. Due to his impressive performance against Napoli, Antonio Conte, who was Juventus’s coach at the time, decided to stake him in the opening league match of the 2012 — 2013 season, against Parma. On August 25, he made an immediate impact, by setting up Stephan Lichtsteiner’s goal in a home win. In June 2013, Juventus made an outright purchase of Asamoah. He then signed a four-year contract with the team. On March 9, 2014, Asamoah scored a notable goal in a home victory over Florentina, as Juventus went on to defend the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana that season. He suffered a severe knee injury in the 10th league match of the season, on November 1, 2014, against Empoli, which ruled him out for most of the season.

On July 23, 2016, Asamoah started for Juventus as captain on the pitch in the opening game of the 2016 International Champions Cup Australian version, as the clubs were drawn with Melbourne. On September 25, 2016, it was confirmed that Asamoah would be sidelined for six weeks after limping off the pitch a day before Palermo with a sprained right knee; tests at the J-Medical center revealed he suffered a complete tear of the medial meniscus ligament. Asamoah reportedly decided not to extend his contract with Juventus, which was due to expire in June that year, according to a report from January 2018. On March 17, he made his 150th appearance for Juventus in a road draw with S.P.A.L. in Serie A. Asamoah agreed to join Inter in May 2018, and Lega Serie A’s registration in July 2018 confirmed this; the signing was completed formally in July. In the first game of the 2018–19 Serie A season he made his Inter debut on August 19.
