Background

Corey Taylor is a familiar name to all metal music fans. He has won himself a seat in the heart of metal music lovers. Just like every other human, Taylor has been through thick and thin, but unlike many, he managed to make strides both in his life and the music industry. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to an Irish and Native American father and a Dutch-Irish mother, who mostly raised him. Unfortunately by the time he was 15, he was well addicted to drugs.

He started his music career in 1992 with the American band, Stone Sour, which he and Ekman co-founded. Between 1992 and 1996, they recorded a demo album. In 1997, Slipknot, a metal band, invited Taylor to join them. He accepted the offer and temporarily dumped Stone Sour. On August 27, 2002, they released their self-titled self-debut album which came 46th on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2006, “Come to What(ever) May,” their second album, debuted at number four on the same chart. Taylor released Slipknot’s debut album “Slipknot,” which came first on the Top Heatseekers chart and went viral in the U.S., getting listed in the 2006 book, “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.” In 2013, he was cast in the “Fear Clinic” and featured in the horror movie “Bullied.”

Taylor’s marital life hasn’t been an easy one. He is the father of three daughters from two unsuccessful marriages. He married his first wife, Scarlet, in 2004 but divorced in 2007. He later married Stephanie Luby in 2009, had his third daughter with her, and separated from her in 2017. In 2019, he married Alicia Dove and has been with her ever since.
