His father was a professor at Emory University, and his mother was a housewife. Baumgartner attended some of the finest private schools. As a child, Baumgartner went to Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School and later attended The Westminster Schools. At the Westminster Schools, Baumgartner participated in drama and speech competitions, reaching national levels. He was a busy teenager during his last years of high school and he also attended Northwestern University’s National High School Institute to learn about Theater. Ultimately, Baumgartner graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1995; he majored in Theater.
After graduating from University, Baumgartner moved to Los Angeles to start his professional career in the entertainment industry. He worked as Artistic Director for the Hidden Theater and performed in several theaters. Baumgartner got his big shoot when he auditioned for the N.B.C. sitcom “The Office.” The actor landed the role of Kevin Malone, an unusual and very particular accountant. Baumgartner played Kevin phenomenally, bringing tons of laughs from the show’s fans.
