Background

Jahmaal Noel Fyffe, a.k.a Chip, is a British rapper and songwriter who has garnered fame and accolades in the music industry. He is a Sagittarius born on November 26, 1990, and his birthplace is Tottenham, North London. Chip is of Jamaican descent, and his parents were immigrants. He received the name “Chipmunk,” which he later shortened to “Chip,” from a friend because he was short and chubby with big teeth. His parents separated, and he began rapping after hearing Wiley and Dizzee Rascal on the radio. He started recording at 13 and rented studios for £20. Chip attended Highgate Wood Secondary School and later transferred to Gladesmore Community School. He took his A-Levels at Haringey Sixth Form Centre.

After Wiley took him to Tim Westwood’s radio show in 2007 to do a legendary freestyle, Chip signed to Jive Records, Sony Music U.K. In 2009, he released his debut album, “I Am Chipmunk,” which charted at number two on the U.K. albums chart. He was nominated for the ‘Best Newcomer Award’ at the MOBO Awards, which he won, along with the ‘Best Hip-Hop Act Award.’ In October 2009, Chip released his biggest track to date, ‘Oopsy Daisy,’ which debuted at number one on the U.K. singles charts and gained gold certification by the B.P.I. Chip released his second album, “Transition,” in 2011, which featured acts like Keri Hilson, Chris Brown, Diddy, Trey Songz, e.t.c. In 2012, after the closing of Jive Records, he announced his record deal with Grand Hustle Records. The rapper released ‘School of Grime’ in 2015. In 2017, six years after his second album, Chip released “League of My Own II,” which reached the number 12 spot on the U.K. album charts. In 2018, his fourth album, “Ten10,” dropped through Cash Motto, his independent label.

Chip is a talented rapper who has released four studio albums, several mixtapes, and one collaborative album. He keeps his personal life private but he is currently single and without children.
