Jaylen Waddle, born November 25, 1998, is an American football wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League, or N.F.L. Before going pro, he played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama. He came out sixth overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 2021 N.F.L. Draft. This Texas native has been playing football since high school, and his commitment to the University of Alabama and the sport have widely paid off. Thus far, Waddle has only played a single season for the Dolphins, but we are sure there are great things in store for him.

Jaylen Waddle was born in Houston, Texas, on November 25, 1998. He attended Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas, which falls within the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area. During his senior year, he played in the U.S. Army All-American Game — a high school football all-star game held in San Antonio, Texas. He was offered the chance to play college football for Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, T.C.U., and Oregon. On National Signing Day of 2018, he committed to the University of Alabama.
He was named the S.E.C. Freshman of the Year after finishing the season with 45 receptions for 848 yards and seven touchdowns. The following year, he was named All-S.E.C. as a return specialist and was appointed the Team Player of the Year. In 2020, Waddle sustained a broken right ankle after being tackled during a game against Tennessee. He returned for the National Championship against Ohio State but announced that he would forgo his senior season to enter the 2021 N.F.L. Draft.
Luckily, he was drafted sixth overall by the Miami Dolphins. His college quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, also made it to the same team. Waddle signed with the Dolphins in a $27.1 million deal. Waddle’s first N.F.L. game took place in September 2021 against the New England Patriots. He caught his first receiving touchdown on a three-yard pass from Tagovailoa in a 17-16 win against the Patriots. In a game against the Carolina Panthers, Waddle finished with 137 receiving yards in a 33-10 win. He ended the season having set the N.F.L. rookie record for a reception with a total of 104.
