Maynard was born in Brighton, England, to Gary, a builder, and Helen Maynard, an office worker. Even as a kid, as Maynard tells it, he’d always loved being in front of the camera. He was briefly a T.V. presenter while living in Brighton. After moving to London — via Bristol — he explored other avenues of work, becoming a personal trainer. He still loved the camera, though, and starting a YouTube channel was a natural extension of his passion. He launched an official, self-titled, YouTube channel in 2015, and it was instantly clear that was his true calling. His first video — a simple Q&A session with himself — was a huge success, getting a substantial number of views in a short amount of time.

His channel has experienced a meteoric rise since then and now has almost 1.5 million subscribers. Maynard is famous for his challenge videos, which he performs in collaboration with fellow YouTubers and buddies Joe Sugg, LucyAndLydia, Jasper, Thatcher Joe, etc. He also often collaborates with his siblings in hilarious sibling challenges and Q&A sessions.
