She’s a Sagittarius, born on November 23, 1960, in Tuskegee, Alabama. Her parents are Colonel Lawrence E. Roberts and Lucimarian Tolliver, and she grew up in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Roberts is the youngest of four children, and she attended Pass Christian High School, graduating in 1979. Roberts attended Southeastern Louisiana University and graduated cum laude in 1983 with a communication degree.

Roberts began her broadcasting career in 1983. She was WDAM-TV’s sports anchor and reporter in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The following year, she moved to W.L.O.X.-T.V. in Biloxi, Mississippi. By 1986, Roberts became the sports anchor and reporter for W.S.M.V.-T.V. in Nashville, Tennessee. She moved on to WAGA-T.V. in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1988, working until February, 1990, when she joined E.S.P.N. as a sportscaster. In 1995, she became a featured reporter for “Good Morning America,” and in 2005, she was promoted to co-anchor. Roberts excelled at her job. She and George Stephanopoulos led Good Morning America to the top of the ratings, a position the show hadn’t held in 16 years. In 2009 and 2011, Roberts hosted the Academy Awards pre-show for A.B.C. In 2012, she was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for her contributions and impact on the sport as a reporter and player. By 2016, she was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and in 2018, Roberts co-anchored Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle. In 2021, she became a guest host on five episodes of “Jeopardy!”
