Stan Musial, born Stanislaw Franciszek Musial on November 21, 1920, remains a legendary hitter in the history of baseball. He is considered among the greatest and most consistent in baseball history. Musial was born in Donora, Pennsylvania, in the U.S. His parents were Mary and Lukasz Musial. He had five siblings namely Ed, Ida, Helen, Rose, and Vicki. Musial also had his own family. He married Lilian Susan Labash on May 25, 1940. They were blessed with four children — one son and three daughters, namely Richard, Gerry, Janet, and Jeanie. He ran a successful homefront. Besides playing baseball, Musial operated successful business ventures, including a restaurant.

Throughout his career, Musial was professionally signed by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1938 as a pitcher. In 1941, he converted into an outfielder, following which he made his major baseball league debut. On January 23, 1945, Musial was enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve during WWII. In 1946, he was released from the Navy upon which he returned to play for the St. Louis Cardinals. His major league statistics indicate that he attained a .331 batting average, 3,630 hits, 475 home runs, and 1,951 runs batted in. Musial is a 24x All-Star player, 3x World Series champion (1942, 1944, 1946), 3x N.L. M.V.P. (1943, 1946, 1948), and 7x N.L. batting champion. He set career records in his career lifetime until his retirement in 1963. Finally, in 1969, he was introduced to the Baseball Hall of Fame. President Barack Obama also presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest award that can ever be given to a civilian by the United States government. Musial passed on January 19, 2013, due to natural causes.
