Joji

Background

Joji is a well-known singer and comedian. His portrayal in “Filthy Frank” was instrumental in propelling him to stardom. He was born in the Japanese city of Osaka. His mother is Japanese, and his father is Australian. He graduated from Canadian Academy, an international school in Kobe, Japan, in 2012. He left Japan at the age of 18 to study at the New York Institute of Technology in the United States.

Joji has been making music since he was a child. Initially, he had a comedic YouTube channel called DizastaMusic, which he used to market his music. He gradually rose to prominence as a result of his creation of the Filthy Frank character on this channel. This channel has over one million subscribers and over 170 million views. Along with other comedians such as Dolan Dark, Max Stanley, HowToBasic, and iDubbbzTV, Joji and his channel formed the Shrimpson Boys.

Joji has some other channels, some of which are no longer active. These channels highlight various web series shows, including “Food,” “Wild Games,” “Loser Reads Hater Comments,” and “Japanese 101.” He also has a unique ability to write music. He admitted that music had always piqued his interest since he was a child. As a result, he’s continued to make and release songs under the Pink Guy alias. His music is typically a mix of lo-fi, trip-hop, and R&B. He’s signed to some record labels, including 88Rising and 12 Tone Music. “Pink Season,” his debut album, debuted at number 70 on the Billboard 200. Under his comedy rap stage name, Pink Guy, Joji has produced one mixtape, one album, and one extended play, “Pink Guy,” “Pink Season,” and “Pink Season: The Prophecy,” respectively. Under his current stage name, Joji also composed more serious and traditional music, which became his primary focus in late 2017.

After failing to keep his true name hidden following the release of two songs in 2015, ‘Thom’ and ‘You Suck Charlie,’ he publicly stated on Instagram in January 2016 that he was releasing a full-length commercial project dubbed “Chloe Burbank: Volume 1.” Joji released numerous songs on the Asian music company 88rising’s YouTube page in 2017. The E.P. “In Tongues,” his first project under the alias Joji, was published on November 3, 2017, via Empire Distribution. On February 14, 2018, a deluxe edition of the E.P. was released. In May 2018, Joji released ‘Yeah Right,’ which became his debut Billboard chart entry, landing at number 23 on the Billboard R&B Songs chart. His latest album, “Nectar” was released on September 25, 2020.

In February of 2022, speculation swirled among social media fans of Joji and Doja Cat, which alleged a secret romance between the two. The rumors came on the heels of a few online interactions the two performers had in the past. Fortunately, the duo has come out to clear the air saying they are not in a relationship and are just friends.
