Michael Reeves

Background

Michael Reeves was born in Maui, Hawaii, U.S. to an American father and a Filipino mother. Growing up in Maui, he struggled academically and chose to instead direct all his energy toward teaching himself how to code. He briefly attended Northern Arizona University after finishing high school. However, he dropped out of the university to focus on working as a software contractor for the U.S. government.

During his college days at Northern Arizona University, Reeves released his first-ever video on YouTube titled, The Robot That Shines a Laser in Your Eye. The video was an instant hit and went viral. Following this, he released several videos on YouTube. These included a Roomba that swore upon colliding with a wall, a taser camera that shocked its subjects, a Twitter bot that purchased items from the replies that received the most likes, and even some bizarre videos like a modification of Boston Dynamics’ Robot Dog Spot that urinated beer into a cup on command.

In 2018, Reeves moved from Hawaii to Los Angeles to pursue YouTube full-time. He went on to earn the name ‘Internet Edge Lord and Coding Genius.’ In December 2019, it was announced that Reeves had joined OfflineTV, a collective of Twitch streamers who create content and live together in Los Angeles. In 2020, he began Twitch streaming, where he streams video games and technology work.
