Bart Kwan

Background

Bart Kwan was born on November 18, 1985, to a Cantonese father and a Taiwanese mother. An only child, he was raised in California. His parents divorced when he was six. He graduated from the University of California (U.C.) in Los Angeles in 2009 with a degree in Psychobiology. In 2007, while he was still a student, he created a YouTube channel called “Just Kidding Films” with his friend Joseph Manaton Jitsukawa. He also began to take acting classes and started posting videos on the newly created YouTube channel.

Kwan and Jitsukawa gradually began to gain popularity for their comedic, Asian-themed YouTube videos that covered a variety of topics. Fans liked them not only for their chemistry as co-creators but for their ability to connect with audiences. They created three more channels: “Just Kidding Party” in 2011, “Just Kidding Gamer” and “Just Kidding News” in 2012. In 2010, Bart and his girlfriend Geovanna Antoinette Carreno created a joint YouTube channel titled “Bart & Geo” where they posted videos about their personal life. Due to his immense popularity, Kwan has been invited to speak at panels and events and collaborate with other prominent personalities.

In 2013, along with Geo, he launched Barbell Brigade gym, a fitness center focused on lifting and strength training. They soon developed accompanying social media channels that regularly run fitness-related series. Kwan is also co-owner of Go For Broke Apparel and the Popbar franchise. In 2015, Kwan married Geo in a private ceremony in Hawaii. In 2017, she gave birth to a son named Taika Octavius. The next year, the pair began to co-host a podcast called “Get Close.” Apart from his YouTube channels, fitness center, and other businesses, Kwan also earns as a writer, director, and actor.
