Chad Kroeger

Background

Chad Kroeger was born on November 15, 1974, in Hanna, Alberta, to Wendall Turton and Debbie Kroeger. He holds Canadian citizenship and has mixed ethnicity. His birth sign is Scorpio. Mike, his older brother, is a member of Nickelback as well. At age 13, he and his brother both began playing the guitar. He started taking music seriously in high school and enjoyed listening to alternative and grunge rock bands. After leaving school, he gathered several friends and began doing local performances across Canada. Despite his talent, he was unable to keep the group together. He then restarted by forming Nickelback.

In 2001, Kroeger and his lawyer Jonathan Simkin formed a band called The Village Idiots. For their debut album, the band received a Canadian Indie Award nomination. He was given the opportunity to write, compose, and perform the song ‘Hero’ for the 2002 film “Spider-Man.” At the S.O.C.A.N. awards ceremony held in Toronto in 2003, he received the award for the song ‘Hero.’ In 2007, he composed the music for Travis Tritt’s album “The Storm” and worked with Santana on their album “Ultimate Santana.” Additionally, Bo Bice and others worked together on the song ‘You’re Everything,’ which he penned and performed guitar on. In 1996, Kroeger, who played for Nickelback, published his debut record, “Curb,” to middling success. However, the second studio album, “The State,” which was released in 2000, immediately earned gold status. Years after the release of the album, it was awarded platinum status as a result of increasing public interest brought on by the success of other records. “Silver Side Up,” their third studio album, was released in 2001 and became an instant hit, topping all Canadian charts. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard chart, and the track ‘How You Remind Me’ was named the 2002 Single of the Year for the Billboard 100. Their subsequent studio album, “The Long Road,” which was released in 2003, was given the R.I.A.A’s three-time platinum award. “All the Right Reasons,” Nickelback’s fifth studio album, debuted at number one on both the Billboard 200 and the Canadian music charts when it was released in 2005. “Dark Horse,” the album they released next, had a passable amount of success and spent many weeks in the top 20 on the Billboard 200. The album was recognized by Billboard as the best-selling album of the year in 2010. Their “Here and Now” album, which debuted in November 2011, quickly rose to the second position on the Billboard 200 chart. Nickelback released “No Fixed Address” in 2014 to a fair amount of popularity, and their ninth album, “Feed the Machine,” was scheduled for a 2017 release. Kroeger collaborated with Josh Ramsay on the song ‘Lady Mine’ in 2021.

Avril Lavigne, a Canadian rock musician, and Kroeger began dating in July 2012. The pair became engaged in 2014, and they wed the following year. The couple divorced in 2015.
