Josh Duhamel

Background

Joshua David Duhamel was born on November 14, 1972, to Bonnie L. Kemper and Larry Duhamel in Minot, North Dakota. His mother is a retired teacher and local businesswoman while his father is an advertising salesman. Duhamel is of Norwegian, Irish, English, German, and French Canadian descent. Unfortunately, his parents divorced while he was younger so he grew up with his mom and three younger sisters.

Duhamel studied up to the college level, attending Dental school at Minot State University but dropped out of school midway. According to him he “followed his then-girlfriend to northern California, and did a bunch of odd jobs.” These odd jobs included bath attendant, and construction worker as he only got into the entertainment industry by chance. He started with modeling and won Male Model of the Year in a competition organized in 1997 by the International Modeling and Talent Association, a competition in which Ashton Kutcher was runner-up.

Modeling gave way to acting as he appeared as an extra in music videos ‘I Will Go With You’ by Donna Summer and ‘Genie in a Bottle’ by Christina Aguilera in 1999. He later got a lead role in a soap opera by A.B.C. studios called “All My Children,” his role gave him a lot of plaudits as he earned an Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2002. He left the show in 2002 and appeared as a lead actor on N.B.C.’s show “Las Vegas,” which he was on till 2008. His big-screen acting debut came in the 2004 movie “Win a date with Tad Hamilton” with him playing the lead character. In 2006 he starred in a thriller titled “Turistas.” Steven Spielberg later cast him in his 2007 blockbuster “Transformers” as Captain William Lennox. Duhamel held the role in the three sequels of the Transformers movie namely: “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” (2009), “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” (2011), and “Transformers: The Last Knight” (2017). He has gone on to star in a lot of other movies like “When in Rome” (2010), “You Are Not You” (2014), “Think Like A Dog” (2018), and “Love Simon” (2018). He has also starred in series like “11.22.63” (2016) and “Jupiter’s Legacy” a show that premiered on Netflix in 2019.
