Background

Tommy Lee Jones is a household name in the film industry, his ubiquitous career has spanned over 50 years. The multi-award-winning actor has garnered global recognition for his brilliant performances in blockbusters and critically acclaimed films. Jones was born on September 15, 1946, in San Saba, Texas, U.S. He is the son of Lucille Marie, and school teacher, Clyde C. Jones. Jones eventually relocated to Dallas where he attended St. Mark’s School of Texas. While at Harvard College, Jones played football, a sport in which he excelled.

It was in 1969, that Jones, who’d moved to New York, got his first role on Broadway in the play “A Patriot For Me.” His big-screen debut was not far ahead, having landed a part in “Love Story” (1970). After another Broadway play and a soap opera feature, Jones got a lead role in the film, “The Amazing Howard Hughes” (1977). The ‘90s were when Jones truly rose to fame, as he featured in a litany of hits including “The Fugitive” (1993), “Men in Black” (1997), and “Space Cowboys” (2000).

After tackling the acting world, Jones decided to take on directing, having worked on “The Sunset Limited” (2011), and “The Homesman” (2014), among others. In 2007, Jones had a strong peak in his career, with the film, “No Country For Old Men,” where he played a sheriff on the chase after an assassin, which won him a Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting role. Jones has been married three times with two children from his second marriage. He is currently married to Dawn Laurel.
