Matthew David McConaughey is an American actor whose talents, charm, and devilish looks have earned him fans worldwide. The actor was born on November 4, 1969, and his birthplace is Uvalde, Texas. McConaughey’s mother taught kindergarten while his father ran an oil pipe business and was a former professional football player. He is a Scorpio and has two brothers. McConaughey is of English, German, Scottish, Irish, and Swedish ethnicity and was raised Methodist. He attended Longview High School after moving to Texas. He was accepted to the University of Texas, where he majored in Radio, Television, and Film and acquired a Bachelor of Science degree.

McConaughey’s acting career began in the early 1990s when he worked on television commercials. He had a series of minor roles and made his big-screen debut as Guy 2 in “My Boyfriend’s Back” (1993). His breakout role came the same year in “Dazed and Confused,” where he played Wooderson. In 2013, McConaughey played Ron Woodroof in “Dallas Buyers Club.” This was a trying role as it required him to lose 50 pounds.
