Desiree Dacosta

Background

Desiree DaCosta was born on November 3, 1970, in California, United States. She is a popular American celebrity, and first worked as Eddie Murphy’s executive assistant, with whom she initially gained a place in the film industry. DaCosta is currently employed as a freelance talent coordinator, but is probably best known as the ex-wife of actor Blair Underwood.

DaCosta began her career as Murphy’s assistant. “Harlem Nights,” a 1989 American comedy crime-drama film, was her first job as the star’s aide. She also worked with Murphy in Walter Hill’s film, “Another 48 Hours,” released a year later, and accompanied him as he co-starred with Robin Givens, Grace Jones, and Martin Lawrence in Reginald Hudlin’s romantic comedy film “Boomerang,” in July, 1992. DaCosta was later promoted to executive assistant on Murphy’s film “The Distinguished Gentleman,” before retiring from the entertainment industry for some time. DaCosta appeared again on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on February 12, 2004. She has since also been brought to feature on the television film documentary “Inside the White House.”

As a figure that has drawn strong attention in the sector, DaCosta is not a fan of controversies, but has rather managed to avoid them, maintaining a clean image throughout her career. Upon ending their 27 year marriage, she and her ex-husband, Blair Underwood, called their time together a “beautiful journey,” and also stated that their children had been their “proudest achievement”. The ex-couple asked their friends and fans to respect their privacy and support them during this time of transition, while also expressing their gratitude for the love and support their followers had shown them over the years.
