Anthony Ramos

Background

Anthony Ramos is an accomplished stage and film actor. The actor, whose full name is Anthony Paul Ramos Martinez, was born on November 1, 1991, in New York City, New York. Martinez grew up with his mother and siblings in Bushwick, Brooklyn. He has Puerto Rican heritage. During school, he often performed Motown songs with a student group, the Halsey Trio, at school assemblies. After graduating from New Utrecht High School, Martinez was awarded a full scholarship to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. He graduated from the academy after completing a musical theater program there.

Martinez made his stage acting debut in 2011, starring in a stage adaptation of the musical film “Grease” as Sonny LaTierri. A couple of years later, he auditioned for another Lin-Manuel Miranda play, “Hamilton,” at the off-Broadway Public Theater. He was cast for two roles in the play and began performing in the production in 2015. He made his T.V. acting debut the same year in the comedy-drama series “Younger.” Martinez made his film debut in 2016, starring in the drama “White Girl” alongside actor Chris Noth of “Sex and the City” fame. He left the Broadway production of “Hamilton” later that year.

In 2017, he released his first solo extended play record called “The Freedom.” He signed with Republic Records in 2019 and released his debut studio album, “The Good & The Bad” with the label. In 2021, Martinez was cast as the lead in “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” the seventh installment in the massively popular “Transformers” film franchise, following in the footsteps of renowned actors Shia LaBeouf and Mark Wahlberg. The following year, he starred in the soon-to-be-released Marvel series “Ironheart.”
