Anssumane “Ansu” Fati Vieira was born on October 31, 2002. With his parents and two brothers (Braima and Miguel), he moved to Herrera, Seville when he was six years old. At 10, Ansu Fati joined Barcelona’s La Masia in 2012, after playing for local side Herrera and Sevilla’s minor squads. His brother had made a similar move the year before.

On July 24, 2019, Ansu Fati signed his first professional deal with Barcelona, which runs until 2022. He made his first-team and La Liga debut on August 25, 2019, before appearing with the reserves. He became the club’s second youngest player when he debuted at 16. He scored his first professional goal in a 2–2 tie against Barcelona and Osasuna on August 31, 2019. He made his Champions League debut on September 17, 2019 in a 0–0 draw against Borussia Dortmund (the second largest sports club in Germany in terms of membership), becoming Barcelona’s youngest player in the league. He was given the number 10 shirt on September 1, 2021 when Lionel Messi left the club.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation expressed interest in him after his debut in La Liga. Ansu Fati was granted Spanish citizenship on September 20, 2019. On October 15, 2019, Ansu Fati made his debut for Spain’s under-21 squad against Montenegro. He was called up to the entire Spain squad for the first two matches of the 2020–21 U.E.F.A. Nations League on August 20, 2020. He made his full international debut on September 3, 2020.
