Icewear Vezzo was born Chivez Smith on October 31, 1989, in Detroit, Michigan. He has strong ties to the Midwest, particularly Minnesota, where some of his close relatives and siblings created the rap group Green Guyz. With the consent of the original group, Smith ran his Detroit-based version of Green Guyz, but after garnering some local influence, the rising MC chose to go it alone.
