Background

Jonny Hawkins is a famous American rock singer born on October 28, 1986. He was born in Texas, United States. When he was younger, his mother passed away from cancer. Hawkins has two sisters named Jessie and Jenna.

In 2003, Hawkins formed the American rock band titled Nothing More from San Antonio, Texas. The band spent most of the early 2000s recording independent albums and having a hard time finding a steady record label interest. A few years after the band was formed, Jonny Hawkins decided to take over as the band’s frontman and vocalist, after being the drummer of the band for nearly a decade.

Hawkins managed to stabilize the band’s core lineup along with other members Mark Vollegunga on guitar, and Daniel Oliver on bass. The band funded and recorded their fourth studio album out of their pocket, and spent three years using the album to gain the attention of Eleven Seven Music Records, a record label that eventually signed the band to a five-year recording contract upon hearing the band’s album. Their album titled “Nothing More” became their debut breakthrough release, and in 2014 they had multiple singles charting, including songs such as ‘This is the Time (Ballast),’ which was number one on the Mediabase Active Rock chart.

The band planned to release a follow-up album in 2016 while touring, and in September of 2017, they released their fifth album and the second on a major record label. The album was titled “The Stories We Tell Ourselves”. The lead single peaked on the Mainstream Rock chart, and the release of the album earned the band three Grammy nominations; ‘Best Rock Album’ for the album, ‘Best Rock Performance’ for their song ‘To Go War,’ and ‘Best Rock Song’ for the same song. The band continued to make music and released hit singles titled ‘Do You Really Want It?’ and ‘Just Say When’ in 2018. In 2022, they have announced that they will be working on releasing another studio album.
