Mikey Way

Background

Michael James Way is a celebrated American bassist and band member with a huge fan base. He was born on September 10, 1980, and his birthplace is Newark, New Jersey. His parents, Donna Lee and Donald Way are Scottish and Irish. Way is a Virgo and was raised in Belleville, New Jersey. Way worked in a retail outlet and later at Eyeball Records, which later signed his band, ‘My Chemical Romance.’ His interest in music sparked at his first concert ever, which was by Smashing Pumpkins. He wanted to pursue music after this concert.

In 2001, Way became part of the American rock band, My Chemical Romance. He had to improve his skills on the bass guitar in less than a week. The band signed with Eyeball Records and released their debut album, “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love,” in 2002. By 2004, their second studio album, “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge,” was released. The band released one more album before their fourth and final studio album in November 2010. The album was called “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.” Way collaborated with Squier while on tour to release his eponymous Fender Mustang Bass. A few years later, My Chemical Romance announced their split in March 2013 but later reunited in 2019 for a tour. After the band broke up, Way formed Electric Century with David Debiak. They released their first song as a duo in February 2014 called ‘Sleep Nation.’ By 2015, Electric Century released their debut eponymous EP, while their debut studio album, “For the Night to Control,” was released in February 2016.

Electric Century released their self-titled second studio album in February 2021 and has done several tours. Asides from music, Way is a great actor who made his acting debut in 2013 on “The Aquabats! Super Show!”. He also voiced Snarl in the animated series “Transformers: Power of the Primes.” Way has a very successful career. With the wealth, fame, and success, he shares every bit of it with his wife, Kristin Colby, and their two daughters.
