Background
Though Matt Bomer is a successful actor today, there was a time when playing football was his passion. This may have been because his father John Bomer IV, was a football player. Bomer committed his time and energy to play wide receiver and defensive back for his high school football team to follow in his footsteps. However, with time, he realized that acting was his true passion, and at 17, he made his professional stage debut in a theatrical production called “A Streetcar Named Desire.”
According to Bomer, he had to quit the team for the show and made an extra effort to keep up with the school work. In 1998, he started working for another production at the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, Utah. After Bomer graduated, he moved to the Big Apple and landed several small roles that turned out to be a turning point in his career. His television break was a part in “All My Children” (2000). This was soon followed by recognized roles in the shows “Tru Calling” (2003), “Chuck” (2007), and the lead role in “Traveler” (2007).
From there, there was no turning back and Bomer continued to give magnificent performances in every project he was a part of. He was also offered roles in several films such as “Flightplan” (2005) and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” (2006). Among his most famous roles is the character Neal Caffrey in “White Collar.” Bomer has appeared in 81 episodes of the show.
