Grayson Allen

Background

Grayson James Allen is an American basketball player whose skill has set him apart. He’s a Libra, born on October 8, 1995, in Jacksonville, Florida. His interest in basketball was piqued early. He attended Providence School in Jacksonville, where he was selected as a McDonald’s All-American in 2014 after winning a state championship the previous year.

In his freshman season at Duke University, Allen averaged 4.4 points per game, earning him recognition as part of the A.C.C. all-academic team. In April 2016 N.C.A.A. Championship game, Allen helped Duke University win the game by scoring 16 points. Later on in his sophomore season, despite five fouls, he was one of the best offensive players in the A.C.C., averaging 21 points per game. During his junior season, Allen was the A.C.C. media’s pick as player of the year. At the end of his college career, he had played in 142 games at Duke University, finishing with 1,996 points. In the 2018 N.B.A. draft, Allen was the 21st overall pick by Utah Jazz and signed a four-year rookie contract with the team. In October that year, he made his N.B.A. debut in a game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Then in July 2019, he was traded to the Grizzlies and debuted for the team in October that year. In March 2021, Allen made a career-high four steals in a game against the Utah Jazz. In August 2021, he got traded again to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Sam Merrill. In October of that same year, Allen signed a two-year $20 million rookie extension contract with the Bucks.
