Bang Christopher Chan, known by his stage name Bang Chan, is the eldest son of three children. He moved to Sydney, Australia, at a very young age. While in Sydney, he attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, taking ballet and modern dance classes. Chan also participated in sports and swimming competitions. When he turned 13, Chan passed an audition in Australia and joined JYP Entertainment in 2010.

Being a trainee at JYP Entertainment for seven years, he had to relocate to South Korea. He became very close to several idols, such as BamBam (GOT7), Yugyeom (GOT7), Young K (DAY6), Sana (Twice), and Jimin.

In late 2016, the group 3RACHA was formed, and in January 2017, Chan (CB97) and fellow trainees Seo Changbin (SPEAR B) and Han Jisung (J.ONE) released their first untitled Mixtape on SoundCloud, J:/2017/mixtape. This consisted of seven tracks. They immediately received praise from listeners for their ability to write and produce their music professionally.

The debut EP by Stray Kids, titled Mixtape, was released featuring song compositions made on the Stray Kids reality survival show, with 3Racha taking credit for the writing and production during the release. On March 25, 2018, 3Racha released an EP titled I Am NOT, featuring the single District 9. All three members of 3Racha collaborated to write and produce the album. Stray Kids later released two more albums in 2018, titled I Am Who and I Am You, on which Chan, alongside 3Racha, has writing and production credits on most tracks.
