Background

Macaulay Culkin was born on August 26, 1980, in New York. His parents are Patricia Brentrup and Christopher Culkin. The actor has six brothers and sisters and a half-sister. As a kid, his family struggled financially; they lived all together in a small apartment in Manhattan. Culkin is of part-Irish descent and was raised Roman Catholic. He attended St. Joseph’s School of Yorkville and the Professional Children’s School. In the 1980s, Culkin had several roles on television shows and films.

He achieved success, however, with the film series “Home Alone.” In 1990, he was the star of the classic Christmas film. He played the role of Kevin McCallister — a part that would change his acting career forever. For his role in ”Home Alone,” Culkin was nominated for a Golden Globe in the ‘Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy’ category. In 1992, Culkin starred in “Home Alone 2.” For this role, he won an American Comedy Award, a Chicago Film Critics Association Award, and a Young Artist Award.

Culkin starred in several successful films in the 1990s. He was in “My Girl” (1991), “The Good Son” (1993), “The Nutcracker” (1993), “Getting Even with Dad” (1994), “The Pagemaster” (1994), and “Richie Rich” (1994). By 1994, the young actor was tired of acting and he took a break; he claimed he just wanted to live “a normal life.” Culkin returned to acting in 2003. He made a guest appearance in the series “Will and Grace” and featured in the film “Party Monster.” In 2006 he wrote an autobiography titled “Junior.” In 2013 he co-founded a comedy rock band named the Pizza Underground.

Culkin’s private life was in the media spotlight since he was a kid. The actor married actress Rachel Miner in 1998. The young couple broke up in 2000 and got divorced in 2002. Culkin dated actress Mila Kunis from May 2002 to 2011. Culkin is currently engaged to actress Brenda Song. The couple had a son together in April 2021.
