Billy Ray Cyrus has built a world-renowned name in music. People listened to his biggest single from one end of the earth to the other. Billy Ray Cyrus was born on August 25, 1961, in Flatwoods, Kentucky, and his zodiac sign is Virgo. His father is Ronald Ray Cyrus, Ruth Ann Casto is his mother, and he has Caucasian ethnicity. Cyrus was introduced to music as a child. His father played the guitar, his mother played the piano, and his grandfather played the fiddle.

Cyrus attended Russell high school in Kentucky before proceeding to Georgetown College. He partnered with his brother to form a band named ‘Sly Dog’ in 1982, and they landed playing gigs in Ohio. He dropped out of college shortly after that. Trouble came in 1984 when a fire destroyed the band’s instruments. Sly Dog disbanded, and Cyrus pursued his career alone. Del Reeves, a veteran singer, noticed him in 1990, and he encouraged the A&R crew at Mercury Records to give him a chance. Mercury Records signed him after seeing his stage performance.

He dropped his first single, “Achy Breaky Heart,” in 1992, and his record label gave it an intense marketing push. The song helped sell his debut album “Some Gave All” when he dropped it later in the year. The album went to the top of the charts, stayed there for 17 weeks, and sold nine million copies. He has released 15 studio albums and 52 singles since 1992, but none of them have performed as well. He only went back to the top of the music charts when featured on Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” in 2019. His acting career peaked when he co-starred in “Hannah Montana” (2006-2011), a series headlined by his daughter, Miley Cyrus.

Cyrus has six children and he got divorced from his wife of almost 30 years in April 2022.
