Background

The youngest of Charles Hamar Delevingne and Pandora Anne Delevingne’s three daughters, Cara Jocelyn Delevingne was born on August 12, 1992, in Hammersmith, London, United Kingdom. Her parents come from well-known upper-class families; her ancestors include Majors and Lord Mayors of London, Viscounts (Greenwood), and Baronets (Hulton, Faudel-Phillips). Delevingne’s godfather is Nicholas Coleridge, president of Condé Nast International. Her godmother is an English actress, author, and journalist Joan Collins. Her older sisters are Poppy and Chloe Delevingne, the latter of whom is a model in England. She was raised in one of London’s most wealthy neighborhoods, Belgravia. Delevingne attended Francis Holland School for Girls in downtown London until she was 16 before transferring to Bedales School in 2008 to study theater and music. However, she left it after a year to enter the world of modeling like her sister Poppy. She joined Storm Model Management in 2009 after being discovered by Sarah Doukas, the agency’s founder. Before her career took off, she worked for a year in the industry before landing a compensated job and going through two seasons of casting or visual interviews.

She made her runway debut at London Fashion Week in February 2011 when she walked in the fall/winter collection for Burberry Prorsum. She cat walked in numerous fashion shows in 2012, including the Burberry Prorsum Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2012 show and the New York Fashion Week events for Donna Karan, Rag & Bone, Jason Wu, and Tory Burch, among others. In such a short time, she amassed enormous fame while modeling for numerous well-known designers and fashion houses, earning Vogue’s season’s crush title. Delevingne, who is successful in modeling, debuted on the big screen in 2012’s historical romance movie “Anna Karenina.” She portrayed Princess Sorokina in the film, which also starred Keira Knightley and Jude Law. She expanded her modeling career in 2013 by participating in numerous events and catwalking for brands including Giles, Rag & Bone, Jason Wu, and Mulberry. On November 13, she participated in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, featuring performances by Taylor Swift and other artists. In June 2014, the final episode of a run of stand-alone TV dramas called “Playhouse Presents” marked her television debut. She also appeared in “The Face of an Angel,” “The Feeling Nuts Comedy Night,” and the Chanel short “Reincarnation” directed by Karl Lagerfeld in 2014.

In January 2015, she was named the new TAG Heuer brand ambassador and the face of Yves Saint Laurent Beauté. As she had chosen to focus on acting, her profile was taken down from Storm Model Management’s website on June 8, 2015. Later in August, she attributed this critical choice to the onset of the skin condition psoriasis. Her major break came with the 2015 movie “Paper Town.” She won two Teen Choice Awards, and it became a commercial triumph, earning $85.5 million globally. She made an outstanding impression in the 2016 American superhero movie “Suicide Squad.” Delevingne received another Teen Choice Award for it. Delevingne appeared in “Pan” (2015), “Kids in Love” (2016), and “London Fields” (2016) among other movies. Her most recent films are the historical drama “Tulip Fever” and the 2017 film “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.” She is bisexual and had a romantic relationship with American musician Annie Clark, better known by her stage name St. Vincent. She has previously been linked to English musician Harry Styles. Following the 2015 death of the male Southwest African lion Cecil, Delevingne, an animal lover, auctioned off her TAG Heuer watch to benefit WildCRU. The proceeds of the sale were $18,600.
