Kaia Gerber

Background

Kaia Jordan Gerber was born in Los Angeles, California, on September 3, 2001. She is the youngest of Cindy Crawford’s two children with businessman Rande Gerber. Her father is a Russian Jew, and her mother is Christian of German, English, French, and Danish descent. Gerber got her first modeling job at 10 with Versace’s junior line, Young Versace. Gerber attended Malibu High School and took online classes. She stated in a 2018 interview, “Because my father is Jewish and my mother is Christian, we grew up celebrating Christmas and Chrismukkah. I enjoy learning about both aspects of my life. We’d celebrate Yom Kippur, Passover, and Passover dinner. I enjoy learning all of that, as well as cooking.”

Gerber made her acting debut at 15 in “Sister Cities,” playing a young Carolina. She debuted on the runway for Raf Simons’ Calvin Klein Collection when she was 16 years old in 2017 and has since walked for fashion houses such as Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Alexander Wang, Coach, Prada, and more alongside her mother during the 2018 Spring Fashion Week. Gerber has appeared in editorials and on the covers of fashion magazines such as “The Love Magazine,” “i-D,” “Teen Vogue,” and “Pop Magazine,” as well as “Vogue Paris,” “Vogue Japan,” “Vogue Italia,” “Vogue British,” “Vogue India,” “Vogue China,” “Vogue Magazine,” and “The Book edition” for “Vogue Netherlands” with her mother in Winter 2016. Peter Lindbergh also photographed Gerber for the Miu Miu eyewear campaign in 2016 and the Omega campaign in 2017.

In the spring of 2018, Gerber starred in Versace, Calvin Klein, and Saint Laurent’s fall/winter campaigns. Next, in 2019, Gerber appeared in the spring/summer and fall/winter campaigns for Jimmy Choo and the spring campaigns for Stella McCartney and Fendi. Later, she became the new face of Y.S.L. Beauty’s advertising campaigns and brand ambassador. And in 2020, Gerber was photographed by Craig McDean for the Louis Vuitton “Twist bag” spring-summer advertising campaign. Gerber was one of a group of high-profile investors who purchased “W magazine,” a fashion magazine, on August 14, 2020, according to “Daily Front Row.” Gerber starred in the 10th season of the F.X. horror anthology “American Horror Story” and its spinoff, “American Horror Stories.” Gerber made her first appearance on the cover of “American Vogue” in June/July 2021 and then again in September 2021.
