When he was six years old, his family moved to Vernon Hills in Illinois, U.S. He completed his early education at Vernon Hills High School in Illinois. Growing up, he was involved in cattle rearing on a farm before discovering the video streaming site Vine. After finishing high school, Dobrik decided to move to Los Angeles.

Dobrik began making videos on Vine as a solo creator. However, he soon realized that collaboration is the key to success and began to work with other Vine stars such as Brandon Calvillo, Gabrielle Alex Ernst, and Hanna. After gaining massive popularity on the platform, he transitioned his career to YouTube in 2014. He started by collaborating with his friends like Jake Webber, Cameron Jack Dytrych, Kasper, and Bren Lunn on a channel named Second Class.
