Taemin

Background

Taemin is a South-Korean singer, songwriter, actor, and dancer that has captured everyone’s hearts with his charm, talents, and personality. Taemin was born Lee Tae-min on July 18, 1993. His birthplace is Dobong, Seoul, where he grew up. He is of Korean descent and his star sign is Cancer. Taemin loathed going to school, and when he was a junior, at 13, he convinced his mother to let him audition for SM Entertainment. Taemin passed the auditions and began training with SM Entertainment. However, he still had to complete Chungdam High School. Taemin transferred to Hanlim Multi Art School and graduated in 2021 before enrolling at Myongji University to major in music and film.

Taemin was chosen as a SHINEE member at 14. He trained with the group for a few years with Kai, who eventually joined EXO, and several others. The group’s official debut was in May 2008 on the music program “Inkigayo.” Taemin’s acting debut followed suit, and in 2009, he premiered his acting skills as Junsu on “Tae Hee, Hee Kyo, Ji Hyun.” In September 2012, he released his first single, ‘U,’ for the movie “To The Beautiful You.” In August 2014, Taemin made his debut as a solo artist with his first E.P., “Ace,” which peaked at number one on the Gaon Album Chart in South Korea. By February 2016, his first studio album, “Press It,” was released. In the same year, Taemin made his Japanese debut with the E.P. “Sayonara Hitori” and went on the dance program “Hit the Stage.” He went on his first solo concert in July 2017 in Tokyo before starring in the Japanese drama “Final Life: Even If You Disappear Tomorrow.” Taemin sang the soundtrack for the film.

In 2018, the South-Korean singer went on his first Japanese concert tour and sold out in 16 cities. In the same year, he released his first Japanese album and overall third studio album, “Taemin.” He released several more records before enlisting in the military in May 2021. However, by January 2022, Taemin transitioned to a military service public service worker due to his heightened cases of depression and panic.
