Background
Brendon Boyd Urie is a legendary American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor born on April 12, 1987, in St. George, Utah. His parents are Boyd and Grace Urie. They had five children and Urie is the youngest child. His zodiac sign is Aries. He is the famous vocalist and only original member of the band Panic! At the Disco.
Urie comes from a Mormon family. After his birth, the family moved to the state of Nevada to live in Las Vegas. He then began to train academically and religiously under the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Palo Verde School.
It was in this same school that he began to explore music. He learned to play several instruments such as guitar, piano, cello, accordion, and several other musical instruments that would make him become a multi-instrumentalist artist in the future. During these music classes, he met Brent Wilson, who invited him to join his band Panic! at the Disco. The band was looking for a substitute guitarist, but after Urie’s audition, the band was impressed by his vocal skills.
His transition into the band was not easy since his parents did not support his choice of pursuing a career in music rather than going to college, so he was expelled from home. However, that did not affect the dedication he gave to the band.
He began working at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe store to pay for a room where he lived and where he and his bandmates could do rehearsals. His efforts were beneficial in impressing his parents and led him to be discovered in 2004 by Pete Wentz, the bassist of the famous band Fall Out Boy. Wentz encouraged the band to sign with the Decaydance Records label.
A year later, Panic! At the Disco released their first album entitled “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out.” It was so successful that it reached number 13 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in several countries. This album has singles such as: ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ and ‘But It’s Better If You Do,’ which took them to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Since then, they have released five more studio albums and two E.P.s that have given them worldwide recognition.
Urie has not limited his talents to the world of music only. He has also ventured into the T.V. by participating in “Lip Sync Battle” and was on Robert Paul Champagne’s “Home Here Now” and also featured in Taylor Swift’s “Miss Americana.”
Urie has been anything but private with his life. This world-class star is married to Sarah Orzechowski, whom he met at an event of his band and managed to talk to her for the first time in 2009 after Hayley Williams, the vocalist of the band Paramore, introduced them. On April 27, 2013, he married her. The song ‘Sarah Smiles’ was inspired by his wife.
In 2013 Urie said that he had experimented with men before but was now a happily married man and considered himself heterosexual. Years later, in 2018, he declared himself pansexual.
