As a multitalented individual, Bad Bunny whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio is a force to be reckoned with. Growing up in a very family-orientated household in Puerto Rico, Ocasio took a keen interest in music at a young age and began singing in his local church choir until age 13. In his teens, he displayed a passion for skateboarding and wrestling. He has two younger brothers and doting parents, even though they had different plans for the rapper when he left school. Ocasio’s mother wanted him to be an engineer, while his father was keen on him becoming a baseball player — he went on to take a few courses in audiovisual communication at the University of Puerto Rico instead.

While writing songs and uploading music to SoundCloud at a young age, Ocasio was noticed by a local DJ who signed him to his record label in 2016. After the success of his first single ‘Soy Peor,’ which amassed over 330 million views on YouTube, the rapper was chosen to host the Spanish-language show “Trap Kingz.” In 2018 Ocasio reached international success by collaborating with Cardi B and J Balvin on the song titled ‘I Like It,’ which earned him Diamond Certification. On Christmas Eve in 2018, Ocasio’s debut album was released, which afforded him many touring and show opportunities in the U.S.

Ocasio released another album in 2019, once again teaming up with J Balvin. In 2020, he performed at the Super Bowl LIV halftime show, which was headlined by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. That same year, he released another studio album titled “YHLQMDLG” which kicked off at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200. Although primarily a Latin trap and reggaeton artist, Ocasio has dabbled in wrestling, joining WWE in 2021, and starring in a few roles, most notably on “Saturday Night Live” and “F9.” He is also an avid activist and fashion icon.
